St. Patty's Day and March is Reading Month

Normally I don't celebrate St. Patricks day but this year I thought I would try to do something fun. A leprachun turned our milk green and we had lucky charms for breakfast. Then after a little bit of drama finding green clothing the boys were dropped off at school. Olivia spent the day with some friends making clover cookies and then for dinner we had pesto italian chicken, green jello, and brocolli. Then we finished the night with a St. Patricks day story.
Grandma Bishop sent the kids a package filled with green fun. The kids loved getting it.

Porter's class had a leprachun come and bring a pot of gold. He changed his name to Porter O'Bishop for the day and loved every minute of this day!

March has also been reading month at our school. We have some little activity to do every day either at home or school. One of the things was to make a tent and read in it. We've also had dress up as your favorite character in a book. Porter was a Pout Pout Fish from the book Pout Pout Fish! This has been a favorite book of his since preschool. He even has the perfect pout to go with his outfit:)
We've started the Harry Potter books with Logan and Porter and Logan of course wanted to be Harry Potter. His friend was also Harry Potter and they were able to be on the school t.v. Upton Afternoon. He loved being able to dress up too!

A New Do! And updates

Olivia had her first haircut the other day. She loved it!
She loved sitting in the chair and did great getting her first hair cut. We cut about 2 1/2 inches off.

She is so much fun! She's starting to play more on her own and will collect her dolls, pillows, dish towels, diapers wipes, purses, shoes and whatever else seems to catch her interest at the moment. She'll lay them all out on the stairs and sit and change diapers, change shoes, talk to her dolls, sing and what not. It's very fun to sit and listen to this sweet girl. She has a little phone that when you push a button says, "hi there! want to come out to play?" And Olivia will say, "uh-huh!" and this will continue a few times each time with her answering, "uh-huh!"
She loves to say the prayer when we say the prayer. She'll sit and mutter jibberish along with us and then yell "AMEN!" If she's really hungry she'll skip the praying fold one arm and and close her eyes and feed herself with her other hand. She's becoming more social and is just so much fun!

What We've Been Up To...

These last few weeks have seemed long and cold, to say that we're ready for Spring/Summer is an understatement. We did have a few days that were "warm" and glorious. It then snowed 10 inches the next day. Here are a few pictures of the kiddo's enjoying the great weather.

Really all a boy needs is some sticks to have some fun with:)

We took a trip down to Ohio this weekend and started to look for places to live. It poured rain, which was a good thing because we could see what houses had water damage. Ohio reminded us a lot of Iowa so hopefully we enjoy Ohio as much as we did Iowa.

Our kids were a little sick before we left and it didn't get any better. They were great for being stuck in the car for 3 days. They loved running around and looking at the empty homes.
We looked at about 20 homes and liked about 3. One of the homes that is a short sale was really dirty but had a lot of potential. I was looking through all of the rooms, opening doors. When I opened a door to a guy sleeping in his room. It was a little awkward to say the least and these people were not making any effort to get out of their home.
As Porter usually does he talked non stop on our first day looking around. As soon as the Realtor was out of the car he was out cold.
We looked at home that was kind of on a farm and when we got out of the car there was Chicken legs and bones in the driveway. The boys both thought it was coolest thing they had seen instantly putting this house as their favorite one:)
It was a good trip and I was glad to see where we are going to live. As we drove into the Detroit area Porter loudly stated, "I'm so glad to be back in Detroit!"
