Posting

Usually right before I fall asleep at night I think about my blog and all of the witty, funny, and thought provoking things I would like to write about for my future posterity. Then I go to sleep and wake up the next day and for the life of me cannot remember anything I thought of the night before. If I do remember some of it, it's never witty, funny or thought provoking.
So I'll stick with what I know and just write things down as they are. A few weeks ago Logan came home from school with a field trip permission slip. They're going to a farm and are going to be gone all day long. I knew I couldn't go but decided to ask him if he wanted me to go, knowing that he would say "yes of course." Well he surprised me and said he didn't want me to go. With my hurt feelings I left it at that. Then later on when I felt like I could handle it I asked him why he didn't want me to with him. His response was too perfect for me, "Because if you came I couldn't come home and tell you all about it." So what I got out of this little experience is that my son loves me and loves to come home and talk to me.
Also Logan has discovered girls. He asked me the other day when could he have a girlfriend, I told him when he was 25. Then he told me about 2 girls that "aren't just so beautiful mom!" Really I love these conversations for one, because my kids talk to me and two they so easily change the subject to something else. It's something I always, hope that they will do.
Porter has started lovingly picking "daffodils" aka dandelions every day for me. If he sees any he has to pick them and if I'm there he'll give them to me, if not he puts them in his pocket or back pack and gives them to me later. One day he had over 30 of them in his back pack. He is such a sweet heart.

April

April has been a crazy month! We started the month off with only having one car while Brandon's was getting fixed for over 2 weeks! We started swimming lessons with the boys, which I think that the boys really learned techniques of swimming and had fun. Brandon started his Ortho Trauma rotation which is great learning for him, awful times for us as a family. I repurposed a dress for Olivia for my brothers wedding and it actually turned out. Logan had strep throat. My back went out. I started Physical Therapy. We went to Ann Arbor and went to the Hands on Museum, which is what the collage picture is of. We had Logan's open house at his school, and finally we still have a week left of this month, whew!

Student of the Month

Logan came home from school the other day and had this certificate in his back pack and really he couldn't have cared less, he was way more interested in looking at his Pokemon cards. Brandon and I of course were so happy for him. I wanted to take his picture and he told me that he already had it taken at school. My kids love having their picture taken... (heavy sarcasm!)

Spring Break

Finally after 2 weeks and 3 days Brandon got his car back. He had been in a small wreck 2 weeks and 4 days before that. When he took it in he told the guy to fix it as cheaply as possible, he didn't care what it looked like he just wanted it to run. So after bumming rides off of people for 2 weeks to take my kids to school and other places, or waking the whole family up at 5 am to take Brandon in. We got our car back. It doesn't look much different from when we took it in except the hood will latch down. Oh the joys of fixing cars!
This is proof that Olivia is my daughter. She sat in the kitchen nawing on this cookie and didn't run away when I tried taking her picture. A true miracle!

We haven't done anything huge this spring break. Some young women in our ward put together a kids camp to earn money for girls camp. So my boys participated in that and loved it. They did crafts one day and made t-shirts, another day learned all about different sports and games, and then the last day they did a birthday party. We went and rode bikes one day and Logan crashed pretty hard trying to race another kid and not watching where he was going. Logan bought some Pokemon cards and has been staring at them every chance he gets. He's trying to save his money now to buy the 100 pack, (oh joy!) Porter and Logan have started playing really well together, which I have absolutely loved. We've had our share of meltdowns, but over all have had a lot of fun just hanging out together.

Easter and the beginning of Spring Break

We have had a great start to Spring Break. The kids had yesterday off for the passover. Then today we went and did our ward egg hunt. Porter went crazy with the eggs. The primary president told the kids to open up their eggs and take out the candy and turn in the plastic egg. They could get 12 eggs at first but after that it was kind of free for all. So Porter found an area that wasn't hit very hard and went crazy opening up all the eggs and dumping the candy in his basket and tossing the eggs to the side. He gets so excited when it comes to finding candy. (Did I mention that he was with the sunbeam and nursery aged kids:)

Logan was with the older kids hunting for eggs and had to actually look for them. When we got into the car he popped in a piece of candy and immediately said mom "What's in this?" Of course it was a Mr. Goodbar and he says, "My throat hurts!" Shoot! So we rushed home and he said his throat didn't hurt anymore. So we started lunch and he complained that his tummy was hurting and the next thing we know, he spewed! Then stated "I feel a million times better!" And that was the end of that. Of course we took all of the peanut candy away and too bad Brandon and I had to eat it;)

Olivia loved just shaking her egg. She just stood in this spot and screeched happily and shook the egg. I love this little girl!
(Really it's a miracle to get a good group shot and this wasn't one of those miracles.)
Right before conference started Brandon and I heard voices right outside our windows and then someone banging on the door. Outside our amazing babysitters left us a little surprise. Porter was convinced it was the easter bunny.

Olivia has fallen in love with shoes. She loves to put mine on and walk around in them. So cute!
Myles (my bro) is getting married in June. These last few days I've been making little boy's ties. They're really easy to make and so cute.

Logan made a list for us of fun things we can do during spring break, since we can't go anywhere. I love seeing him learn how to write things down. He's started writing stories and he's getting really good at it too. Some of them are pretty funny. In case you can't tell what it says, Henry Ford and Greenfield village, library, swimmin', picnic, bikes, park, movie night, tennis and soccer.

Happy Easter!
