We Survived!!

Well I survived watching 6 kids for a week. I did end up taking my kido's of last week sledding. I left my youngest nephew there with my mom and took the other 5 with me. It was freezing cold, but we had a lot of fun. It was a good week getting to know my neice's and nephew better and seeing what it's like to have 6 kids.
Christmas was so much fun this year. Logan and Porter finally got the whole present idea down, and they went right to sleep on Christmas eve because they didn't want santa to skip their house. When we woke up on Christmas morning, Porter of course was the first one awake. We had to go wake up Logan. Once he heard us say Santa had been there, he literally jumped out of his bunk bed, and they both (Logan and Porter) ran down the stairs. They loved opening up all of the presents, so much that they tried to open everyone else's presents. They wanted to open up grandma's and papa's and great grandma's. Brandon and I had so much fun seeing their excitement and shouting out thank you's to santa with every gift. Even a few days later when I put on a shirt from Santa Porter would still say, "thank you Santa."
So far our tradition of Christmas eve is we spend it with my mom and have dinner. This year Brandon's parents were empty nesters and came and had dinner with us. The cousins all gave eachother their gifts and opened them. Then on Christmas morning we wake up and open presents at my moms and then go over to Brandon's parents for breakfast, and open up more presents. We are so glad that we have family that all is so close so we can spend time with everyone.

Brandon was here this last week, so we were able to play with our daddy. Brandon's dad Wally took a day off of work and we went 4 wheeling in the snow. It was freezing, but my boys wanted to keep going. Porter got too cold eventually and wanted to go inside and eat. This is Brandon and Logan making snow angels. I go to Detroit on January 23rd to get my hubby and then we'll drive back together, and life will be good again. We had a wonderful Christmas and hope you all did too.

Scarey dreams and good things...

The other night Logan was sleeping peacefully in his bed. I was just getting into bed when I heard him screaming hysterically. I went running in and he was sitting there just crying. I picked him up and tried to comfort him telling him he was safe, etc... I asked him what was wrong and through sob's he said, "I... saw... lot's... of... corn!" I muffled my laughter and within a few seconds he was back in la la land. I don't know if he's terrified we might end up in Iowa some day or that we might never go back there, anyone's guess!?
Good things, it snowed tonight, so maybe I can take my 6 kids of the week sledding. I'm tending my sister's 4 kids and dog. It's been a crazy, eventful week. The dog needed to go though, so my mom took him off of my hands and life's been good ever since. I don't think I would ever, ever have 6 kids this close, someone is always fighting, or crying, or demanding your attention. But the trade off is my sister will watch my kids when I go get Brandon in January, and in March when My lover (Brandon) and I go on a cruise in celebration of his birthday, anniversary and graduation all rolled into one.
Also Brandon comes home tomorrow night for a week, yeah!! I love it when he comes home. Life seems a little bit easier having him around just to talk to at night. He's also very helpful in cleaning up and helping with the kids. I'm very lucky. We only have about 3 more weeks after this break until he's home for good. I can't wait.
Hope you're all having a wonderful christmas. Merry Christmas!

And a long long time ago...

Our boys have started a new way of talking by saying, "I have a question for you, remember a long long time ago..." and then they'll finish with some random usually made up story about Brandon and them being super hero's, or some other fact. They definately keep life entertaining.
For our ward christmas party they made the cultural hall into Bethlehem, and everyone had to dress up to enter the city. Here's my little shepherd boys, aren't they adorable.
We went to Grandma and Papa's ward christmas party because santa was going to be there. This year was definately better, no tears of fear were shed. Both boy's told santa what they wanted. Porter said cars, and Logan said a power ranger toy, although I don't think he really knows what a power ranger is.

We've been having a lot of fun this holiday season and hope that everyone else has been having fun as well. The snow has been especailly fun this year, the boys have to walk through the snow wherever we are, it's like a magnet calling out to them.

Bishop Look-alike Meter

MyHeritage: Family tree - Genealogy - Celeb - Collage - Morph

Well this was a cool thing I saw Brandon's cousin Tiffany do. It's a look-a-like meter obviously that tells you who your kids look more like. Logan looked 40% more like Brandon and Porter looked 5% more like me. Sorry I don't know how to get it on the page. But it's kind of fun to try.

Interview weekends

Just wanted to let ya'll know that Brandon starts his interviews this weekend. He is interviewing with Salt Lake, Ohio State, and Detroit Medical Center this weekend. Next weekend he's interviewing with Allentown Pennsylvania. So keep him in your thoughts and prayers. I'm really proud of him he's doing such an amazing job. It's fun watching him grow these last few years of school, and see him really love what he is doing. He's a great husband and daddy and we couldn't be more proud to call him ours.

Twilight the movie

For all those fans of Twilight, here is my personal favorite to play Edward, Chase Crawford. I think he would be perfect. I love Edward in the book, but I think my favorite is Jacob. Not that my opinion matters at all on who gets the part. I just wanted it said before they tell us who is really going to play this part. Looking for any good books here's a good one to read. What do you think?

We wish you a merry Christmas

As you can see winter is really here, and this time for good. It snowed really hard on saturday and as soon as Logan and Porter were up they wanted to be out in it playing. They had to wait until the afternoon because I had a wedding shower to go to. But we made it outside and they had a blast. Logan especially because I gave him a squirt bottle with green water in it. He just walked around the yard squirting everything he could. It wasn't good packing snow so we couldn't make a snow man this time, maybe later.
Porter loved playing in the snow. He had his second eye surgery last thursday. They operated on the outer eye muscles this time. It didn't really do much to change his eyes but maybe with time and using a new patch they gave us it will. I really don't want to go through another surgery, and either does he. I think this time traumatized him a little bit, he's terrified of going to bed every since then. Keep's life interesting.
I taught Logan how to make snow angels and he graciously made one for me, but I don't really think it's his cup of tea. He would rather make the snow green. As most of you know Logan has a little OCD in him, (obsessive compulsive disorder). Since he was little he's always been a little particular about things being where they need to be and playing in a certain order, I have no idea where he gets this anality from. But he's formed this obsession with Skyler's light needing to be on at all times. Skyler's room is by the playroom formerly Sky or Myles' room take your pick. If he see's that his door is open and the lights not on he'll turn the light on and shut the door. And if it's dark and he can see under the door and the light's not on he'll open it turn on the light and shut the door. He has many stories like this that I could go on and on about, but I won't. It's something that makes Logan uniquely Logan.
Does the term cold cheeks give new meaning?! This was while we were at temple square seeing the lights. He didn't even realize that his cheeks were hanging out freezing. He was having too much fun trying to touch the lights on the trees. We had to snap a picture before we fixed his pants. Hope you all are having fun getting into the spirit of the holidays. We love you.

A Reason for the Season

There are those "ah-ha" moments that we all have had in our life. The best ones are when you see your kids have that light click on, especially when they are of a spiritual nature. We were doing family home evening last night and I was telling Logan the story of our Saviors birth. (Porter had a rough evening and went to bed early) I started to tell him of the wise men and suddenly the light clicked on and he got excited and said, "those are the guys we saw up in Salt Lake City, at the temple". The pieces suddenly fell in place and he remembered the little baby being held by His mommy and daddy and started to understand more about who that baby was. It's these little moments that I treasure the most, when I realize my efforts are not all in vain and my children will get it someday if not today.
There is a tradition in the Bishop family of going to Temple Square and seeing the lights. We usually go later closer to Christmas, but now with everyone married and other families to see, we went the day after thanksgiving. This is one of our families favorite things to do, the lights are always beautiful and the atmosphere is always great. Whether it's snowing, raining, or no moisture in sight, it's still a specail thing to do with our family.

It's a Bird, it's a plane, it's SUPER LOGAN

Since I made a tribute to my porter man, I of course had to do one for Logan. I decided though to wait unitl his birthday so I could do those pictures. Logan is my son, (so far) that carries the worries of the world on his shoulders. He's always worried about something or someone. But at the same time he is so much fun to be around. He wants to be friends with everyone and have fun all the time. He is very honest and will tell you if he did something naughty, or he'll basically tell you what he's thinking with not sugar coating. He'll say" sorry mom, I didn't mean to do that." While we were planning his birthday party we went to Target and every single person he saw there he invited them to his party. He would say "Hey do you want to come to my super hero party, we're going to get the evil party pooper, who wants to take my presents." That leads into his party. We did a super hero party and made the evil party pooper (Sky was such a good sport) be the bad guy that they were going to defeat. When I told him about the party pooper he almost went into a panic attack, saying "mom we've got to get that party pooper so he doesn't try to take my presents." I calmed him down and let him know we would get him. So we had the party, had a few melt downs throughout the day by all 3 of us, (Kim, Logan, and Porter). But we made it through. I can't believe that I have a 4 year old, time really does fly when you have kids. Logan is one of the sweetest little boys I know. When he says his prayers at night he looks around his room where he has pictures of the first presidency, Jesus, the temple, and others. He looks at them all and blesses each one, when he gets to the first presidency picture he says "bless President Hinckley, and President Monson, and President Faust who died and President Eyering who we don't have a picture of but we're going to get one", and then he finishes his prayer. I just think he is so much fun to be around. I love my Logan.

Here's Sky while the kids at the party got the evil party pooper. You can see one kid thought it was hilarious, the other took his job quite seriously and sprayed him down with silly string. Here's the pinata, Logan wasn't going to let go of his silly string just in case the party pooper came while he wasn't looking.

Tribute to my Porter-Man

I just got my computer back from getting it fixed when Porter pee'd on my key board. So I'm going to give a little tribute in his name. He is one of the happiest little boy's that I know that is also so full of it. He's come up with a new saying "willn't", very non-committal. When he get's in trouble and I tell him not to do something he'll say, "okay mom, I willn't". This way he's not lying if he really won't do it anymore or if he'll just ignore me.
He also LOVES food. About 20 times a day I hear mom, I'm hungry. The other day I asked him what he wanted to eat and he said, "how bout, umm Pickles?" One of his favorite foods. And if you give him what he wants, he'll squeal, "Yay, I love it!" He loves to sing anything from church songs to radio tunes, like the song "juicy?" I don't know if that's the name of it but they say it alot in the song. If he needs to talk to his dad immediately he just puts his hand up to ear and starts talking like its his phone, (this he learned by watching Logan do this). He loves BYU Cougars, but he calls them the "BYU Cosmo's". If he sees any kind of BYU things he screams, "Byu cosmo".
And lastly Porter is extremely cuddley. He loves to be held and give hugs and kisses. He loves his owies to be kissed better, part of me thinks he fakes getting hurt just so I'll kiss his owies. He is very busy, and also the biggest sweet heart. Here's too our little Porter-man, that we just love.

These are a few of my favorite things... about fall

I love the change in the air, when the days get a little bit cooler, the leaves start to change, the orange pumpkin patches the dot the area. The sound of crunching leaves under your feet as you walk, fall is simply beautiful.

The boys and I helped out papa and grandma with the leaf raking this year. I don't know how much we really helped, but we had a lot of fun, running around and throwing leaves around. Logan and Porter loved helping Papa dump the leaves in the garden and riding back in the trailer. We love the fall.

Pic's of the family

Here's some pictures of our family. The one on top is of Logan's first day of preschool. He was so excited to go and still is. He wears his backpack all morning waiting to go.
This is Logan and Porter on a little walk we took up hobble creek. The leaves were just barely turning colors so it was still pretty green.
See what I mean about interesting positions!!!
It's snowed a few times on the weekends and the boys love playing in it. We built a little snowman using all of the snow in the back yard for it. It lasted most of the day before it fell over and melted.
Our family at Holly and Landon's wedding.

Let's see how we likey...

It seems that a lot of people we know are starting to blog. So I don't really have anything else to do, so why not try it out. This is just for fun. I am on dial up and sometimes I don't have the patience to wait for uploads. So there might be some pictures, there might not be. We'll see. I hope this can keep you all more up to date with our family.
Brandon is still in Detroit. We get to see him in 2 weeks for thanksgiving, yeah!
Logan is in preschool 2 days a week and loves it. He's going to be 4 in 2 weeks. It shocks me how fast the time is flying by.
Porter is very independent. He tells me every day he doesn't need a nap, and refuses to lay down. But every day around 4:30 or 5 he'll fall asleep wherever he is. We've found him in some unusual positions from this.
I'm trying to keep up with my two boys and stay sane at the same time. I admire any single mom out there. This is not a job for wooses. I will be very happy when it's january and time to go get Brandon and bring him home.
Hope you enjoy reading about our lives.
