At the end of February we experienced our first pinewood derby. Logan and Brandon worked hard on picking out the idea for the car and getting it ready for the big event. It was much more involved than I thought it would be for a scouting thing. The cars were all timed down the race track, there was a big screen that told the cars time and place. It was a lot of fun, despite many melt downs by our 2nd son who was just dying to race a car, (soon enough!) They didn't place, but recieved "Best in show award".
His friend Trent made the same design as Logan did so it was fun to see them together. There was a lot of creativity with these boys. There was a hot dog, an angry birds, and lots of other fun ones.
We've had BEAUTIFUL weather the last 2 weeks. We decided to get Porter on his bike and finally learn how. After a few tries with Brandon holding on, he finally took off. It's amazing how he struggled with this and then finally it just clicked and he acts like he's been doing it forever. Both of our boys love riding bikes around the neighborhood and I love that we have such a great neighborhood to do that in.
We didn't do much for St. Patricks day and I honestly didn't think anyone would notice but boy was I wrong. First thing my boys did when they woke up was to see if the Leprachuans had turned the milk green. Apparently they did last year, and they forgot. I thought it was good enough to get this rainbow fruit dish put together with the marshmellow clouds and pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Next year those Leprachauns will get us good.
After what has felt like months of talking, bribing, and yes I'll admit it a little threatening. I finally just took Olivia's diapers and hid them. She was practically changing her own diaper at this point and refusing to go to the bathroom. She came downstairs and told me she couldn't find her diapers. I told her they were gone. She went back upstairs and came down in underwear and has been in them since, (One week mark.) She's had an accident the first time going and one other time and has been dry since. One of her specail prizes was this princess tutu Brandon brought back for her from San Antonio. She loves it and tells me everyday, "Mom! I haven't danced today!" If she's not wearing this tutu or another one she'll go get one and then dance around the room like "Barbie Nut Cracker". Can I just say how much fun this little girl is!
And then lastly, we have a 2 month old. Henry is the happiest little boy. The other 3 fight over who gets to hold him because he's just so sweet. He has started smiling all the time and coo's and babbles when he's awake. He startles easy and jumps a mile high when there's sudden movement or noise by him. He's a great little sleeper the last 2 nights he's gone 8 hours, heaven! When I take him everywhere the first reaction I get from everyone is "Look at that hair!" and if Brandon is with me the next statement is, "he didn't get it from his dad!" I love this little man and I'm so glad he is here in our crazines of a family.
