Olivia May Bishop

Again, this is Brandon.

Yesterday Kim went to her OB/GYN. While there, her doctor told her that she was going to be induced due to the following reasons: she was already dilated to 4 cm, we live 40+ minutes away from the hospital that we are delivering at, she was already having some irregular contractions, and finally there was a winter storm warning in effect for yesterday and today. The doctor didn't want me to have to deliver the baby on the side of the road in the snow. Thank you doctor! I would have done it, but I really did't want to do that. Anyway, We came in yesterday afternoon. Kim had to have 4 hours of antibiotics prior to delivering, so they didn't get serious with the Oxytocin until around 9:00 pm. From that point, things seemed to move slowly until around 11:00 when Kim felt like things were coming. We thought for sure Olivia was going to be born on 1/9/09, but we were wrong. Olivia was born at 12:18 this morning weighing 8 lb 13 oz, and she was 20 and 3/4 inches long. From the pictures below you can tell she has a lot of brown hair. Man that girl can cry! She has lungs! I have now been a daddy to a little princess for less than 12 hours and already she has my heart. It has been so much better than I expected. Kim like all things she pursues did wonderfully. She stated that she felt more pain with Olivia than with Logan and Porter, but I think she did amazing. I am always in awe that this living, breathing baby came out of my wife! I know for those of you who have had babies this is old news to you, but I still think it is a miracle.
